I want to try tubies and a friend has an old 7speed pair of wheels. Any chance I can swap out the freehub for a casette body and roll? They're Shimano 900? hubs and circa 1989.

Anyway: http://sheldonbrown.com/k7.html#transplant TF I think I'm gonna disagree on Sheldon's recommendation that you don't need an axle. IME you do need a slightly longer axle with the new spacing. To the OP: If you're keeping the wheels, go for it. If not, don't bother. There's great deals to be had on ebay on new-ish tubulars with the right spacing. M |
