Eventually a group of 20 or so came together on the flat run-in to the finish with 4 Lampre's driving it for the last several kms. Maybe Milram should take some lessons from them as they got it perfect. With the last man launching Cunego to a 10 meter plus win as the rest of the climbers who had survived the selective course came in a bit splinttered from the furious pace and multiple corners in the finale and had nothing for Cunego's powerful kick even on the flats.

Damiano Cunego (Lampre-Fondital) has taken over the lead in the Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali from Vincenzo Nibali after winning the fourth stage between Scandiano and Fiorano Modenese. After some superb teamwork, Cunego won a bunch sprint of 15 riders ahead of Luca Mazzanti (Ceramica Panaria) and Massimo Giunti (Naturino). Nibali finished in a group 42 seconds behind, and lost the jersey by just two seconds.
