Well after looking at all the nice places you all live, I took the camera out for a ride. I live in Boone,NC and I commute to Blowing Rock which is about 12 one way. Its a great ride b/c I pass the Blue Ridge Parkway everyday. So Sunday was almost 70* and I hit the road for fantastic day in the saddle. These are some of the shots taken along with the "pull the camera from the back pocket and take a shot of the deer crossing the road" .
Enjoy!

There aren't many better places to cycle than Boone. How do you like Snake Mtn? I did Blood, Sweat and Gears about 3 years ago and the major moves were made on Snake. Lucky you, the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the great roads in the country. I especially like the view from Pisgah Mountain. Hopefully, Boone isn't expanding too much... it would be a shame. Thanks for sharing,

Cool stuff. I bet it's really gorgeous once the leaves show up. I wish I had more roads like that out here.

I have wanted to move to the "Highcountry" for a long time and did so last September. I will never leave this place. It is growing from what the locals say.....and realestate is thru the roof ,but livin in a college town has its perks too! Bars, Good Food, Happenings! I have not been around Snake Mtn. yet, but I do plan to do the Assault on Mt. Mitchell.Gotta love to climb!

Thanks for posting. NC has a weird reputation on this board but I have tried to up the NC rep by bragging on the incredible roads and parks all around.

I used to live up around Asheville (Waynesville) and no competition, simply awesome running and cycling. Not much in the way of work though...

So down I-40 a bit in Winston Salem, I still enjoy pretty good scenery, rolling hills and plenty of room. I do miss that parkway though... I used to be able to climb up to just over 5k and enjoyed the views.

Great pictures and I am jealous of where you live. I think NC is as close to the perfect state as you can get. You have the mountains, ocean, rolling hills, four seasons, and beautiful people.

I live in Charlotte and I have countless times made the 2 hour drive to Asheville just to ride on the BRP. Leave my car in the same parking lot as Liberty Bikes, make a nextdoor Starbucks run and the parkway entrance is less than a mile away! Someday I want to take a week or so and do the whole 470+ miles.

Just love the area, been wanting to move there for years, but have had no luck finding work. Who knows someday..

Enjoyed the pics!

Nice pictures. I've never been to Boone or ridden on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Seems like something to shoot for this summer.

Isn't Virginia the part that West Virginia threw away? LOL
