A couple of months ago I bought a new Apple Computer to use in my photography-not the stuff I post here, for my good stuff. I have no plans to hook the thing up to the internet or to use any of the many other programs included with it. I only want it for photography and I have only explored the features that enable photo processing.

I didn't realize until last night that my purchase included an I-Pod (you know;the item that starts 1000 threads).

So I have a simple question.....

What do I do with the darn thing????

Use it to level your kitchen table. The thing clearly isn't strong enough to support a nice meatloaf on the table and that screen is gonna break and leave shardes all over the kitchen floor.

...looks like I can store lots of photos on the thing but that 2.5" screen is going to be fairly usless to view them. Maybe I'll just use it for data backup.

Cook it at 350* for ~twenty minutes/until medium rare (still pink in middle) then cover with hollandaise sauce.

If it's a Video Ipod you can hook it up to a TV or other external source and look at em there--also video.

Or.... electrify it and leave it somewhere out in the open so you can watch how many times people zap themselves trying to snag it up. Hehe, oh the videos that would spawn.

I think this makes some sense. Fill it up, jam the earbuds into your earholes and go for a fixed ride around DC listening to some outrageous tunes. After that, post on why you think it is cool to ride while listening to music and watch the flame war begin.

If you need tunes PM me and I can tell you the best place to get them.

In school, my buddy and I would take his two-way radios out for some fun. We'd hide one in a bush, find a spot on a bench, and start calling the other one. It made a sound similar to a cell phone, so oftentimes someone would hesitate and start walking towards the bush, staring intently. As they got closer, we'd say, "Hey...get away from there! What do you think you're doing? Yeah, you in the red jacket...go away!"

We were far enough away so they couldn't easily hear or see us. It would freak many of them out - we would have fun with that thing for three or four hours, easy.

Wear it while you're riding and pretend to listen to the music that isn't on it. When other riders tell you that it's not safe to do that, throw it at them.

I wear my MP3 player when I am on the MUT section of my commute. I find that it fixes all those annoying clicks and creaking noises coming from my bike. A guy was drafting me this morning all the way to work and wanted to discuss all things having to do with cycling and sports. I find that a player is helpful in those situations as well. I am not a morning person.

Don't you know the the iPod will prevent you from hearing other people wave at you on the MUT. Next thing you know, you won't wave back and civilization will dissolve in a septic pool of rudeness.

Patsy, Willie, Lyle, and Hank (Sr.). If it were me, I'd add Kinky to the mix as well.

Unless Apple has changed the design with the Video iPod version, you can't readily copy data off of an iPod. i.e., you can play videos or show pictures (assuming you have the "video" version, of course), you can play music, you can delete any of the above, but you can't copy it off. It's pretty useless as a backup tool.

You can actually use it for storage. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131 I've used mine many times this way. (but never to do any thing illegal :)

In fact the iPod makes an excellent portable hard drive.

All you need to do is go into Preferences and select the button that says enable hard drive use.

Very difficult use as a hard drive if you don't enable the software.

You must like Riders in the Sky

The only thing I know for sure about Gunfighter ballads is
when Liberty Valance came to town the woman would cry.

Riders is a fine band, but Marty Robbins fans around Nashville have discovered the unique local institution of Brazilbilly (http://www.robertswesternworld.com/brazilbilly.html).

Since you bought the computer for photography, you could use the Ipod to store/backup your picture files when you're traveling. Depends on how many GB of CF cards you have, but there is a connector cord that allows the transfer from the camera or a card reader onto the Ipod. I've heard it's really slow, and uses a lot of Ipod battery power, but can be a serviceable alternative to buying an expensive mass storage/backup for traveling.
