Replacing worn Ultegra pads. What do you recommend (riding in all types of weather, alloy rims)? Where are the good deals? Thanks!!

i just threw in a set of the dura ace pads (although shimano only makes 1 type of pad I think?) They work quite nice. I got them on team discount at the local shop so they were a good deal, but I think they shop had them for 10 bucks, so 20 bucks to replace all 4. They work just fine.

KoolStop brakepads are more effective and smoother than any pads Shimano makes. Available at your LBS.

Definitely use brake pads.

I have had good luck with both the black and salmon (pink) Kool Stops. They both work significantly better in wet conditions than the Ultegras.

They stop better than just about anything else, and they last a long time, too. If your LBS don't got 'em, Sheldon is a good source. .http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/brakeshoes.html
I think it's worth buying the whole brake shoe assembly (not just pads), as they have better, more easily adjustable hardware than either Shimano or Campy original equipment.
