Probably a sin to you purists, but I'm young and lazy and like my STI... so here it is... built entirely with parts scrounged from work.

1989 Paramount OS3
Tiagra STI shifters
Ultegra braze-on FD
600 "8spd" RD
Dura-Ace 9spd cassette
LOOK Carbon fork

Open Pro's on the way...

Anyways it rides nice just needs to shed a little weight, and I am going back to the steel fork since the CF fork is incredibly flexy.

Not as highly regarded, but I plan on using it for unpaved roads. Any issues I need to keep in mind during the build. I am considering putting a MTNBike cassette (11-32) on the rear, and using the long cage 105 rear der that I have laying about. My other concern is tires. I plan on getting some touring type tires and squeezing them in. I will use the Sheldon Brown method of cold setting the rear dropouts to the 130mm width. Going with a road triple on the front. (NO, I will not go big-big with that combo)

I actually didnt bother respacing the dropouts. The wheel just fits ever so slightly tighter... not even to the point where its hard to get it on or off really. I don't know about running a triple, it could give you some chainline issues but since you know about cross gears I think you'll be ok provided you get the right width BB and all. I really didn't have any issues, other than my right shifter is a little worn.
