i'm trying to install a specialized pave sl carbon seatpost in my CAAD 7 and am having a B1tch of a time with it. the seatpost fits (snug) in my older 2.8 frame but on the CAAD 7 I can't get more than 2 inches.

has anyone else encountered this or do you have any solutions?

Yes, and the problem is the pave seatpost. My buddy ebayed one and was trying to shoe-horn it in a Schwinn Fastback (27.2mm seatpost) and couldn't. It apparently has to do with the fit of the elastomer in the seatpost...to make sure it stays put, the elastomer fits very tight in there, so it exerts pressure outward on the carbon walls. I'd imagine that's why.
