what a f-up. Why would they allow this sensitive data in a place where it can be stolen this easily. Seems like a procedural problem, but maybe I'm just naive about this kind of data and how secure it should be?
KendleFox 05-22-2006, 02:30 PM Our military Tri-care had some computers stolen a few years back. My Social Security number was on it.
My SS is planted on multiple computers and 100s of documents across the Nation. I fully expect my credit to be raped one day...

If they can't prevent information vital to national security under wraps where do you figure the personal information of 26,000,000,000 vets ranks?

A few of the veterans who post here don't mind the NSA snooping on their calls, so this shouldn't bother them a bit.
KendleFox 05-22-2006, 06:24 PM And you're ok with this?
No I am not ok with it.
What would you have me do about it?
I have enough stress in my life, so this doesnt rank high on my list of problems.

I'll bet you cant find 3 vets who said they dont mind the NSA snooping on their calls.
We might understand why, but this doesnt mean we dont mind.

There were Jews in Germany who said the same thing when they came after the Gypsies.
I'm not equating this to that but tacit acceptance of violations of fundemental rights, even seemingly mild violations, can only lead to one ultimate conclusion.
All I hear from you guys is tacit acceptance of everything. When it comes to rights, once the government taketh they never giveth back.

I do need to get to bed..... :)
But hey, that was only implied. Not a direct Goodwining. And it was germane to the post I was responding to, you must admit that.

You should go to bed now. I have to take the boy to TaeKwonDo now. It is only 5:10pm here.

What would you have me do about it? Do you want me to go protest at the white house?
I have to prioritize what’s important to me. Please don’t take this as a “I don’t care” issue.
Computers and data are compromised every day. This one just happened to make the news.

Feh, what the hell do I care... it's your data that was compromised, not mine. Personally, if it were *my* data stolen, I'd be looking for the head of the person in charge of security on a platter. Had that person done their job the data would not have been stolen.

I agree Ken
Rank has it’s privileges, and my rank does not give me the privilege to jump the chain of command. I will have to trust that my leaders will take care of this for me.
