The frames weigh lesss than the UCI minimum so they have to add weights to them. The jerseys are an add for that fact. Obviously they are being a little too subtle.

It's marketing non-sense. There are several frames out there that are considerably lighter than the Six13. Anyone can make a bike lighter than the UCI minimum. On Belgium TV Simoni even mentioned to a reporter at the morning sign-in that his race bike was actually 7.2kg. No need to add any weight whatsoever.

That's my understanding: That the weight limit is on the whole bike, not just the frame. In that case you could build most quality frames to below the UCI limit. Super lightweight welded AL seems a little scary to me, though. AL is not a material you want to push to the weight limit if you care about durability.

Were there not some lightweight Italian AL frames a few years ago that were advertised as being made for a single season of use?

I don't know much about that. I do that there are some current really light and fragile aluminum frames around with rider weight limits and only short warranties.

Weird kits and uber-light bikes or not, as a team they're hanging right in there with Fassa & Gerolsteiner.
