I just got my first pair of carbon fiber soled shoes, and I use SPD pedals. Since the metal cleat rests directly on the sole, will I need to put anything between the cleat and the CF to prevent wear? I just put a pair of SPD cleats in the shoes this afternoon to take a quick trial spin around the parking lot and I love the shoes, but was concerned when I saw some flaking around the area where the cleat rests.

Probably not a big deal...just want to make sure I'm doing this right.

It really shouldn't be a big deal, but if you feel more comfortable, add a nylon washer in there. You'll just have to check them for tighness more often.
