I'll soon be heading to Ukraine for 2 years and was wondering if anyone here knows about cycling there. I'd be interested in any information you might have. Thanks in advance.

The Soviet construction was all a facade. No reinforcement under anything. hence, 20yrs later, it's all crumbling to dust. Holes in the roads are bigger than the cars. Lines painted mean nothing to drivers.

All the bikes I saw were Pegoretti and Colnago. Even the rusted up old beaters.

Very flat country, especially in the Dnipro valley.

FYI: Read "Culture Shock, Ukraine" to get immersed in the culture. You'll learn a lot about how things work.
