Brought out my old Debernardi lately to put some miles on her. Decided to take a quick shot and post it here. Maybe it's not really really retro, but I like it. This was my first road bike, I bought the frame from gvhbikes in 98 or 99 and built it up myself. It was the first bike I built up, I was in about the 9th grade. I had been riding my Ritchey Nitanium Specialized Rockhopper with some old avocet semislicks on the road and decided I needed a proper road bike. I didn't have much money and I really liked my steel mountain bike so luckily when I came across this frame it was steel and cheap! I called Gary Hobbs and he helped me with sizing, (I think I've grown a bit since then, I didn't use to have that much post out), and the parts spec, although most of the parts have been replaced since the original build-up. This bike got loads of miles put on it till I got an Allez Cro-Mo in 04 and a Ti Dean last year. I don't ride it that often now, but I'm always amazed at how well it rides. Well anyhow, here's a pic I took today of it, enjoy! :)

If you've got that saddle angled down that far to avoid pain in yer 'taint, try lowering it. Level is the starting point, some prefer a little bit up or down, but every rider I ever saw at the shop with a tilt like that (and even worse) had their seat up too high. Do your wrists or hands hurt after long rides?

Oh, and that's a sweet bike. Italian steel rocks. As does Britsih steel, and Japanese steel, and American steel, and...

Cyclists are like magnets... they're attracted to the best bikes.

Yeah, actually I was messing with the fore/aft seat adjustment today and I guess I knocked the nose down some too. I ride that saddle level usually, I hadn't noticed it was angled, thanks, I'll go rememdy that! :)

Gorgeous. You must be one tall dude to need a frame so large in the 9th grade -- and still growing!

another fit thing: those brake levers look high on your bars. i would suggest you try sliding them down.
very nice bike.

I don't remember how tall I was then, but I seem to have topped out at 6'3". I think this frame is a 60, I ride a 62 now thus a little bit extra post on this one . I'd also probably feel better with a 13cm stem instead of the 12 as well, but for the limited miles this bike gets now it'll do, plus it's got a really nice looking TTT stem. Thanks for all nice comments about the ole Italian gal...:)

Very nice bike. Can't help but see a Columbus decal on the seat tube, what tubing is it?

White San Marco Rolls.... <drooools>

Thanks for the nice responses! :)

ColdRider - good eye, the tubing is Columbus Thron. If I remember correctly when I got this frame there was a Thron version or a Brain version for more $$.
