.....i was reading an ap wireservice piece in the american press about floyd's stage victory, the following is mentioned:

"Landis, ........vaulted into first place and will wear the leader's yellow jersey on Friday -- Bastille Day in France.

Frenchman Cyril Dessel was hoping to maintain the overall lead and wear the yellow jersey on his country's national holiday"...

oops!

....once again, an american has spoiled some french national hopes.....
when will we ever learn?

It's Dessels' own fault for not working with Mercado at the end of the stage the day before. He would have held a greater lead time if he had done so and been able to hold onto the yellow jersey.
