the tyler hamilton interview part 1

Al was talking to the other 3 about doping in the peleton and saying their are probably guys in it still doing it - but other guys have probably be scared not to and this could be "the first clean tour"..

Then they said something like "they get busted and deny it" and then went into a TH interview about it being a tough 2 years and he isn't bitter because he doesn't want to be a bitter old man and basically said he was innocent otherwise he wouldn't be out in the public and all that . Part 2 will be just as boring.

first clean tour. that's funny, wish I'd watched it. is part 2 tomorrow? I'd like to see it. I still want to know who (what?) hell is too, the dude said "them". maybe "hell" is the phantom twin?

His wife Haven was with him and spoke a fair bit. Pretty poor segment and interview. Just kinda blah and both sides. Anywho... tune in tomorrow. S

I think its funny how Bob Roll shuts down when the topic is about doped riders. In his books if you read between the lines he says that he & 7-11 was on something. 7-11 to motorola to postal it is a corrupt bunch .

It was a very strange interview. Hamilton's wife did most of the talking and she used the term "we" alot. As in "WE have been working hard and WE are ready to start racing again" "WE want to put this behind us" "WE don't want to leave the sport this way".......I think she may have been channeling Tyler's dead twin.

Well Tyler was also named in Operation Puerto. His wife was supposedly had faxes sent to her using her maiden name from the Doctors in question. Maybe that is where the "WE" is coming from.

Tyler is talking about trying to find his way onto a team. But he is facing the lifetime ban now. Unless he is completely cleared of the second charges, do you really think any team will touch him? I do not think OLN mentioned that he is likely facing a lifetime ban either leading into or after showing the interview.

I have met Tyler. I am glad he kept his charitable foundation going during his suspension. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt with the first charges. But at this point, I think his talk of racing again is wishful thinking.

Do we really need the postal doping war going on in this thread? Ask yourself this before a loose comment starts one.

I think he's slime, its very clear that he was a blood doping, he got caught and instead of fessing up to it since hes banned for 2 years anyway he continues to lie about it. As if he's trying to save whatever respect people still have for him. Which only serves to make him look like even more a scuzz-ball.

I couldn't help wondering if the interview was taped before he was implicated in Operacion Puerto.

Epic -- I was thinking the same thing, I think it is very likely that it was taped before he was implicated.

Troutwig said something to the effect of " tyler has been cleared in the olympic scandal and the olympic committee is dropping the charges and he will be allowed to keep his gold medal becuase of lack of evidence" ----- does this change anything?

Reminds me of a *****y wife I saw on TV long ago who in referring to her husband said "we think he should get a better job."

I thought it turned out to be incriminating in an unintended way. Tyler's wife ended up looking way too involved in his career, and those faxes in operation puerto now make a lot of sense. She came off pretty badly in light of the news out of Spain-maybe it was taped before the news came out, but it was downright creepy.

And a media tip to Tyler-when protesting your innocence look the interviewer in the eye instead of at the floor and try not to have your eyelids flutter-a testimony expert would have a field day with that tape

I would have given Tyler props if he just busted out with a "B**ch set me up!" when Haven was talking.

Agreed that was creepy. His wife is way too involved, but you can see that she appears to justify everything in her mind. To her Tyler wasn't doing anything wrong, since everyone does this.

ye without sin can cast the 1st stone. I like Tyler. I also think he doped. He served his time--let the guy race.

I still think the reason he has no difficulty justifying his protestations is that he feels he was following the "rules", i.e. it's not illegal if they can't catch you, and when they informed him they could catch him that spring he discontinued the homologous transfusions. Therefore he feels they cheated him.

I think that pro bikers dopping is alot like the average joe speeding on the freeway. Very few drive the speed limit. Some of us drive 10 miles over the limit & never get a ticket. Others drive 25 over & have a licence full of staple holes & very high insurance. The point is If you get cought take it like a man, Not like a Tyler.
