I'm bored, so just wanted to ask if anyone would object to Robbie replacing FrankieA to do the commentary about stage tactics and the final 5K? No brainer, huh?

View Full Version : Robbie Ventura. Yay or nay? snowman3 07-15-2006, 05:46 PM I'm bored, so just wanted to ask if anyone would object to Robbie replacing FrankieA to do the commentary about stage tactics and the final 5K? No brainer, huh? desmo13 07-15-2006, 06:12 PM With all the conspiracy and drama in the peleton, I think we need a host from Extra, or Hardcopy, to do the coverage. No brainer, huh? why, you planning on comandeering the OLN production truck or something? fwiw, I think frankie's fine. he's been doing this for several years, this is the 1st year I recall alot of posts about him. Coincidentally, this is the 1st year he's been PNG amongst the Fanboys™ too, entirely unrelated I'm sure. sgt_hedgehog 07-15-2006, 08:04 PM i could probably give the same answer that Robbie does to any of Al or Bob's (okay, just Al's) questions. pretttty boring: Q: "so what does this mean for the yellow jersey of Floyd Landis" A: "well, i talk with floyd after every stage is he is very confident that he can pull this off. he is in pain with his hip, but, you know, he's a real fighter and i think he has the best change of taking this thing to Paris".......ETC. The thing i kinda laugh at is when frankie interviews people like George. i mean, they were teammates only a few years ago, prolly just f**kin around like normal guys, and now frankie's all, " so george, very difficult stage today..." as if he's just another reporter. and george is always like, "yeah, thanks frankie" and smiles kinda sarcasticly. Robbie's eyes are really crooked. edlubba 07-15-2006, 09:15 PM did u ever notice when robbie is commentating, he makes lame hand gestures to emphasize his point? he's a little too spastic for my taste... francois 07-15-2006, 09:22 PM did u ever notice when robbie is commentating, he makes lame hand gestures to emphasize his point? he's a little too spastic for my taste... I haven't noticed that at all. For a first time commentator, he is very good. He's already way better than Frankie A. francois Alpedhuez55 07-16-2006, 05:35 AM The thing i kinda laugh at is when frankie interviews people like George. i mean, they were teammates only a few years ago, prolly just f**kin around like normal guys, and now frankie's all, " so george, very difficult stage today..." as if he's just another reporter. and george is always like, "yeah, thanks frankie" and smiles kinda sarcasticly. Well, Andreu is on the outs with Disco after the depositions where his wife claimed Lance had been a doper: The magazine stories are based on evidence given under oath in a Dallas court by Betsy Andreu, wife of Frankie Andreu, a former friend and teammate of Armstrong, who claim they were both present when the cyclist is said to have discussed doping with the doctor.... In his own defense, Armstrong said in a November deposition that no doctor had ever asked him whether he had used doping products and that Betsy Andreu held a personal grudge against him. Armstrong suggested that Frankie Andreu had simply gone along with his wife's account in order to offer her support. http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/10088.0.html So those interviews with Frankie and former teamates are going to be filled with awkward monents. I am sure Frankie's apparent demotion had a lot to do with those depostions. My guess is there is pressure from Discovery to get Frankie off of the coverage. After all, he broke the Discovery "Code of Silence". But I take him over Charmical. weltyed 07-17-2006, 09:54 AM the last few times i saw robbie he was speaking slower. i think he is getting used to bein on the tube and/or someone spoke with him about relaxing and taking it slow. Mocat4 07-17-2006, 10:58 AM It's funny, but my eyes glaze over and my brain kicks into snooze mode whenever Robbie or Frankie do their little bits....I see their faces on the screen but all I hear is "blah, blah, blah"...and then I start thinking about what to make for dinner. Every word out of Robbie's mouth is "rah rah Floyd" and Frankie never says anything that even the casaul cycling fan couldn't have figured out for themselves -"Well there's a turn right before the finishing straight so the pack will have to negotiate it safely before they wind up for the sprint" - thanks for clearing that up Frankie, and here I was worried that they would forget to turn and just ride straight into the barriers. My brain snaps back to attention once I hear phil or paul's voice again. Sintesi 07-17-2006, 11:42 AM Bring back Kristen Gum! And her wonderful glorious breasts! |
