I hear that's why Simoni was dropped continuously the last couple stages. Same with Millar.

It's just what he does at this time of year. He's really good at dropping out of the Tour. I think he's the favorite to drop out first next year.

i probably am implying something, but 2003 was the year that Euskatel's sponsorship option was ending. Kind of explains his and Zubeldia's form in the Tour that year.

you guys are silly. i remember that '03 tour when he was pacing at like 16mph up that grueling climb that left everyone else for dead, including Lance. i even remember Sherwin or Ligget commenting that he was making it look easy on that climb. things that make you go "Hmmmm". we should commission to Bob Roll to introduce a "Favorite" to abandon first for 'le Tour '07. i think i will go with Mayo.

If you are implying Mayo is doping because he is inconsistent this year, I must object. He was *always* inconsitent. He is consistently inconsistent over the past years. He is probably THE most consistent in his own inconsistency. What you really need to watch out for is riders who are inconsistently inconsistent. Like some years they are consistent and then - boom, they becomes inconsistent. But only for a while, and they are consistent again. In other words - no consistency - not in consistency or inconsistency. That's how you know!

Man those Basques must hate him by now - or at least wonder why he has to give such a poor showing in front of them. They come out in droves to see him and he hasn't come through yet.

It's a shame because the Basques are such a passionate bunch to say the least, when it comes to cycling. Then you have a guy like Mayo, who has so much talent and has shown flashes of brilliance, but generally shows such a lack of passion and effort, not to mention, he's a guy who, by his own admission, hates pressure.
