These will be going on my new frame here pretty soon. They came in at 491g all said and done, I was really really happy to get a set, I find them to be a work of art! I hope you enjoy the pic.

Actually it's "Clavicula" and i'd like to know how much are the rings supposed to last? Is their lifetime comparable with aluminum rings? These look nice but still the only way I'll enjoy them is admiring them in a picture.

Good luck

Even when you get totally anal about keeping your drivetrain clean they will last nowhere near as long as aluminum rings but longevity is not the issue when you buy these, they're about as purty as they are light. :)

THM states 420 grams for the cranks and BB. That leaves you 71 grams for 2 chain wheels :out:

Well I suppose that's the claimed weight, they can come a few grams higher than that but definitely not much higher.

A waste of money.

A waste of money.

Weightweenying in a nutshell. But to some it's a pleasant waste of money.

Shop in Sandy Eggo sells those rings. Say they work great for single-ring applications, but not so good for doubles.

Best thing about those rings? Replaceable with AL...

Purty alright. Living up to the "Live fast, die young, and leave a good looking corpse" rule, I expect to see those "purty" carbon chain rings adorning a hook on the garage wall in a couple months while they are replaced with something more durable.

About the response expected lol. The rings actually shift better than anything I have used other than DA rings. They are fully ramped and pinned, do a bit of research on that. They hold up pretty well and have been getting anywhere from 4-20k miles to them depending on size and weather etc... (larger rings last longer). Lighter alloy rings don't really last all that long anyways.

The cranks came in at 418g w/ BB, bolts were 7g so there ya go for that. They are quite nice, I have put a few hundred miles on the setup and can honestly say I am pleased. I have been pretty un-happy with the likes of FSA and Stronglight/Time for the integrated units, the Shimano works well but I hate the plastic seat/spacer. When these showed up I was pleased, all the shortcomings were fixed and these work top notch! They feel pretty nice on my new bike :D

Nice setup.... now that brings me up to the next question: how about a photo of all the rigs in your stable? Didn't you build up a near-full-record Scott CR1 not too long ago?

A review/comparison of these different bikes and components would be great, too. Looks like you've gone through a few wheelsets, frames, and BB/cranksets. Thanks.

Alienator has the same set.

Yup, he does. And 2 other folks got sets in the same shipment as Alienator's. And 2 o' da Fairwheel Bikes dudes have 'em: Ralph, the owner; and Woz nee Madcow, the shop tax write-off.

Alienator will have pics of his on the bike up as soon as he washes his bike.

How much does a lump of sexiness like that set one back? I'm in college, so buying them is out of the question, but it's nice to know where to shoot for when the engineering classes finally pay off.

Hey Im in College too, so no worries about affording it, just make sure your employed first. The cranks are around 1200-1300 in the US and if ordered from overseas they run about $1000. The hard part is finding a set, the wait is 25+ weeks for the now :blush2:
