I just bought my first old steel frame, a Colnago Super from the late 70s. The chain stays have indentations in them. They do not appear to be damage, the drive side stay has the creases on both the inside and outside, the non-drive side stay has a crease only on the inside, and it matches the one on the drive side. I assume these are normal? Crease may not be the best word for it, it's a smooth "indentation." Pardon my ignorance. No digital camera, or I would just post some pictures!

they are designed to be there, it is to give you more tire clearance and also more smaller chainring clearance.

that is cool that you found an old colnago frame.
