On Saturday, my son was driving up to Frisco to see the Dallas Stars prospect camp. I tagged along with my bike so I could ride back. I assured my wife that I found a safe route even though I had NO idea how I was going to get back home. I've driven the roads in north Dallas, but never ridden them...

The hardest part was getting across 121 near Ikea...Once I got south of 121 it was pretty easy. Don't ask me my route because I have no idea what roads I took. I basically went south for about 2-3 miles, west for 2-3 miles, south for 2-3 miles, etc....

Once I got to Denton Dr in Carrollton, I had it made...

I called the wife from Irving and told her not to worry. I was on familar roads and the rest was easy... I ended up taking a few planned detours in Irving and Grapevine and ended up doing 70 miles for the day.....

I think the biggest challenge was the headwind the entire route.

It was a great way to spend the day and certainly was a nice change of pace from the usual Saturday ride

I never said I was smart:)

Honestly, my usual Saturday ride is from my house in North Richland Hills to Benbrook and back. It's right at 60 miles and I got bored of the same ride every weekend. I needed something different. Driving from my house to Frisco is only 37 miles so I knew I could find a safe way home even if it took my way out of my way...

Well done Dave. You can sneak around Frisco if you are careful of your route. I've done several rides through that area without much problem. We even managed to make it up Preston Rd. from a few miles south of 121 to the Superdrome once or twice. That was a funky adventure on a busy Saturday morning around that mall.

Windhaven Parkway is a nice little road.
