Yeah there's almost 20,000 people doing this ride so meeting up with anyone could be a stretch but...anyone from RBR doing it? Chances are I'm working this event as a volunteer for CAMBr but will probably get some miles in there sometime on Sunday morning...

Steve,
I've somehow never managed to make it to "bike the drive". This year is no exception... I'll be cursing the altitude in New Mexico

I was supposed to be working the event (XXX-Athletico) but with a cracked TCR I'm not sure I'd be setting the best example... Oh well...

It's a fun event. The last two years I worked the event with CAMBr. Last year they had our posse of mountain bikers teamed up with the Windy City Gay & Lesbian Bike Club. We were stationed at Fullerton and helped to steer people off the drive as they allowed cars back on. The Windy City group was a riot. They were cheering on newbie riders at they struggled on the climb of the Fullerton Ave. overpass ;) Some guys were even handing out Marti Gra beads to the cyclists as they passed by. There was no shortage of Lycra in our group!
The first year I worked as a mechanic for REI when I was wrenching part time at their Niles store. I pumped up and changed more tubes in a 4 hour period then I had done in 2 years of working in the shop. It's pretty scary how many people drag their bikes out of the garage after letting them sit for years and bring them to events like this.
