Randy emailed me some pictures built up, got them this morning.

There was delay getting in the seatpost of all things and the wheels I ordered are still not in.

The wheels on the bike in the picture are Randy's - I ordered the Reynolds Alta Race. First, I didn't feel like dropping about $2G for a set of wheels and second I really didn't want carbon wheels. Reynolds say they were shipped, they just haven't arrived here. First time ever with pre-built wheels so I hope I like them, down side to them they are only available in clincher - ahh well. I have lots of wheels so I can always ride tubulars if I want.

Randy tells me he weighed this, with pedals at 15 lbs 8 oz, I figure the wheel switch will add about half a pound - so call it 16 pounds. Never ridden a bike that light - should be fun ---- someday!

This bike is almost done, I ordered a Richard Sachs "Special" - a gorgeous red leather covered Regal saddle. It arrived yesterday, here. My bike is there. so imagine the pictures with a sexy red Regal on it. Even if Randy has the nerve to keep telling me that it is a "boat anchor".

Kudos and thanks to all of you for thoughts and suggestions ( even KPCW"S elaborate photo montages that slow my screen draw to a crawl  - it all worked out ).

Sadly, I am leaving for two weeks vacation this weekend and will no doubt be dreaming of my "almost" bike - I will phone before we get home and get him to ship it to try and make sure it's here when we get home - try and get a couple of days in before heading back to the salt mines.

My baby, colours of the "old" National Team Jersey.

Thank you very much.

I'm pretty happy with it, I'll be even happier when it's in my hands!

That is a beautiful bike! Great job with the paint scheme, I love the little leaves. So you're off to be tortured with dreams of your new steed while you are away, eh? ;-) Enjoy, and thanks for posting the purty pics!

Looks nice all built up, and definitely post a pic when you get that saddle on. The component colors work, and I do like the white tape (didn't think I would before seeing it).

Red QR on front, black on the rear. Will that be the case on your wheels, or is that just the way it worked out with the loaner wheels?

All bikes MUST have white bar tape :) , it's the law hereabouts!

It's a bit of an optical illusion, it's not actually the QR that's red, the dropout is painted red but the QR button is pretty small.

I wondered when I saw the pics where the bottle cages were, Randy thought the lines for a photgraph would be thrown off with the cages on (!).

I got an email part way through the day yesterday, someone had been in ihis "showroom", saw the bike and wanted one, so he was asking if I minded if he recreated the scheme - but with Orangey / browns in stead of the red.

At that point, it's not the NAtional Jersey anymore - so go ahead. Someone else is going to be riding a version of my bike before I ride it (!) - vacations suck (just kidding).

I'm thinkin you should post a thread with all your steeds, In fact I'd like to see alot of steeds off this forum that I read about but never get to see, should be some kind of link for each member that has pics of all there bikes?

PSV - Thank you.

No the Curtlo is not gonna get parked.

It is really a lot like my version of your Strong, the one I reach for first.

In fact the Curtlo is going away for the next couple of weeks, it's gonna go do some exploring up around Mount Robson, Jasper into Banff again and then Radium Hot springs.

Mount Robson - http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/explore/high_country/parks/robson.htm

Jasper National Park - http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/jasper/index_E.asp

Banff National Park - http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/index_e.asp

Radium Hot Springs - http://www.radiumhotsprings.com/ ( this is in Kootenay National Park)

I think the Curtlo will get to see some new scenery and probably will enjoy the trip.

I said that too. :p right after I got my sweet IF built, I'd chill for awhile, then came the Moots, then I thought I'll chill for awhile..... Now after months of personal turmoil, I think I'm gonna go with Jim Kish. Then I'll chill for awhile.........:D

Thank you. As I sort of alluded to above - it has taken a little longer than I thought it would.

First I had to decide on the colour scheme / theme and then get it painted. The good people here helped quite a bit with the colours and theme.

Took a fair bit to paint it due to the layers and colours then the clear coats ( Randy used Glasurit clear, which is the stuff they use on Ferraris) and the endless buffing.

Parts wise we used a Dedacciai carbon seatpin which was out of stock everywhere and had to come out of Italy. Now we're just waiting for the wheels and I simply can't explain the delay on those.

However, Randy knows I'm getting antsy so sends me regular picture updates - somehow it just isn't the same.

TMB,

if you ever get to Montreal, we have to meet up. Very nice bike. Sending pictures of a custom build to an antsy and anxious owner is cruel punishment in my book! I remember the old thread about the paint scheme and glad you ended up with a very nice paint scheme.

That bike just made my top ten.
While in Jasper be sure to ride up to Miette hotsprings. If you are staying in town it's about a 90km round trip. Once you hit Pocahontas it's a 17km climb/decent/climb/climb/decent/climb up to the springs.
A good ride.

Thanks for that, we are staying at Whistlers so I will do that. Cool in the mornings right now, so Tiger Balm and tights in the bag.

Cadence, Dave et al. Thank you for the kind words. I like it more every time I look at it and I can hardly wait to get back from vacation ( isn't that an awful thing to say?) so I can take delivery.

another decent ride is up to Marmot. 20km climb, but it's onlt about 4-5%. The last 1.5 km are about 10% as you ride up to the upper parking lot. As it is summer there won't be a single car on it.

Not as retro styling as the old ones (nor does it say Tim Horton's like it should...) but will be a great match...

Toomany,

I saw an old-school Canadian jersey on my ride out today. Very classy and understated, was thinking about you when I saw it! Was 85$ tho

Takmanjapan,

where did you find the picture of that jersey? I want it! The color kind of match my Motorola Eddy merckx, and while being a Canadian this jersey would be perfect for me.

Toomanybikes, Are you from Vancouver? Maybe one day I will see you riding your beautiful bike. I am in downtown Vancouver.

I'm in Kelowna, but am often seen riding around Vancouver when down for work. I ride out around Burnaby Mountain and Coquitlam a lot. The guy that built the bike is out on Annacis Island so quite frequently go riding with him out to Richmond and back over the Oak Street Bridge.
