This is in reference to RACE WEEKEND (http://www.onondagacyclingclub.org/pdfs/race/syracuse_race04.pdf) in Syracuse, NY this coming weekend.

I've been debating about what race(s) to do. YTD, my mileage is a meager 600 miles (not
enough time with school...), and last years (I started road biking last summer- only two
months) was about 700, for a total of ~1300.

There's a junior mens RR (33 miles)- should I try, or jus focus on the crit listed below? I
did a rolling 30 miles today and avg. ~16/17 mph.

What crit should I do? There's a mens 4/5 (25 laps) and a juniors/men 5 (15 laps)- which
one do you recommend?

The flyer says that the juniors/men 5 race is actually two different fields?

[[MEN 5 CAN RACE TWICE DURING CRITERIUM: Men 5 may also race at 3:30pm crit
race in field separate from Juniors]]

Confused? Me too.. one more Q- what tires to use? I have a pair of Bontrager slicks (700
miles on both) and a pair of GP 3000s (roughly brand new).

Thanks.

If it's your first race, you might want to try the road race. You don't have all the corners to deal with in a dense field so handling skills may not be as important in the RR.

The juniors race will have other riders in the same boat as you. (your listed milages are what some riders put into a couple of weeks)

As far as which tire, without question go with the GP 3000s. They are a sticky tire and new tires are always better for racing. Less chance for cuts and embedded pieces of stuff in the tire that can cause flats. No flat spot in the middle that will cause handling problems in the corners. And besides, the old ones are Bontragers!
