This is a 160 km charity ride that starts in Maple (N. of Toronto) on Sunday Sept 10. I have been watching the registrations and donations. Maybe it's too early to tell but it looks like the interest is down a little from last year. Suprising because this is a well organized event on a great route for a very worthy cause. Who out there is riding?

Didn't know about that one, thanks for mentioning it. This year I doing a two day 60km walk on the Weekend to End Breast Cancer joining my sister a cancer survivor and her team. Next year I plan to rid the http://www.thehealingcycle.ca/ esp. since I'm a cyclist by heart not a walker. I might try the Karen ride since I can just enter a $75 reg. fee only and not worry about making a mininum fee since I will be involved in another charity ride.

I rode the Ride for Karen yesterday (my first century), so here is a mini ride report. I have to say this ride was very well planned and executed, everyone was excited to be helping out for a great cause. It was a sunny but cool day, with moderate winds from the northeast.
The riders started split into three groups: 25 km/h, 30 km/h and 35 km/h, but of course things got split up along the way. There were enough riders so that I don't think anyone ended up doing parts of the ride alone, unless of course they wanted to. The route was well marked, and there was a police escorted for the first 1/3 of the ride. There was plenty of food and drinks at the starting point, the 2 rest stops, and the end.
Overall, it was an excellent event that I will be riding again next year.

I really like this ride. It's a big fast pack which is a lot of fun. The 35 Km group didn't seriously fracture until the two hills on Kennedy and then there was a good collection for the second group to form. This is my third year and it was the best organized yet. Great bunch to ride with too.
With so many different clubs around Toronto this is a good event to network and bring people together.
