I found a pretty amazing deal on a bike recently in the road bike review classifieds. The listing said the bike was new but had been test ridden a few times. A bike shop right?......when I asked him he said that he wasn't associated with a bike shop. When I ask about payment, he says he will take the boxed bike to a local bike shop have them contact me and secure the transaction. I've never bought a bike through classifides before and am worried about getting burned. Any thoughts, suggestions, or concerns?

You haven't given enough info. If Western Union or any other "ecrow service" is mentioned (especially if they want to send you a cheque-always spelled "cheque"-for lots of money more than your asking price and then have you wire the 'difference'), ignore them at all costs.
