So my boyfriend and I have this plan to ride from Rockledge to Key West in October. I'm excited about the trip but I am a little worried about riding in South Florida, Miami area. We will be mostly on A1A or US1. Does anyone ride this area and would be able to give us some tips. We are going to ride early in the morning so hopefully that will help a little...

As you head into Miami-Dade County, it's probably best that you stick to A1A until you get to South Beach, where you want to cross to the mainland on the Venetian Causeway. This will lead you to Biscayne Boulevard where you'll travel though downtown Miami to Brickell Avenue and then to South Bayshore Drive. You can take S. Bayshore to downtown Coconut Grove and then hook up with Ingraham Highway to old Cutler Road Road. This road will take you to Black Point Marina which you will pass through and keep going through palm farms, past the Homestead Motor Speedway and Homestead Air Reserve Base to Florida City, where you can begin your ride on US1 through the keys.

Good Luck!
