View Full Version : 20 hole rims that won't break the bank?

I found some nice hubs on eBay that I would love to buy but they are 20 hole and I can't find any rims that come in a 20 hole drilling. Okay, I found some rims but they are like $425 each. By the time I put the parts together it'll be about $1000! I might as well get a set of Cane Creek Volos wheels at almost half that! What I'm looking for are some nice rims, clinchers preferred but I'm willing to try tubulars, for a reasonable cost: less than $100 each rim, if possible.

Can anyone suggest rims for me?

You can get 30 mm niobium rims (speedcific 30, IRD cadance aero, etc) in 20h and they are not that expensive at around $120 to $130 for a pair, the weight is also really good at 455 grams.

Thanks. I tried to do a search and could not find any in 20 hole, only 24 or more. Is this something that can be custom ordered?

don't you have to get velocity rims custom drilled for 20 hole?

The Velocity Aerohead and a few other of their rims are listed on their website as coming in 20 hole drilling but finding an online retailer that sells it is another problem. I'll probably have to special order them at an LBS or something. I'll ask around and see if I can get some before committing to those hubs.

I purchased 20 hole 30mm Niobiums from him. The came in at 450-460gms each. Very nice rims for the money. Slightly more expensive than Velocity but a good bit lighter than a deep V.
