I'm moving from the country (NW lower peninsula of MI) back to the city (Grand Rapids: terrible streets) and will be doing some of my riding in the city on my second bike, which is a Specialized Sequoia comp. I'm concerned about whether I'm crazy to ride that bike with its stock Shimano rims in pothole heaven, and also whether there is a tire that would fit my rim that is tough and comfortable enough to ride those streets. If this is just a nutty idea, I'd sell the Sequoia and get a city bike, but I'd like suggestions about what relatively inexpensive bike (less than $800, because I've got $3,000+ in my Roubaix and my wife is, like, Dude!) would be good for that--specifically, one that is tough but doesn't weigh too much.
