I'm converting one of my road bikes from a regular 9 speed setup to a TT 9 speed setup. So whats going to happen is that I'm going to exchange the regualr shifters to bar end shifters. I was looking at shimano's technical documents but I am somewhat baffled abotu a few things
1) Does shimano make any bar end shifters lower than DA? Like are there any ultegra bar end shifters?
2) If so, how do you differentiate DA from teh lower bar end shifters.
3) Can you resue the wiring on your regular shifters on the bar end shifters?
thanks!

Pretty sure the only Shimano 9sp bar end shifters were Dura Ace. If you buy them new, they come with all the housing/cables you need. If not, you will likely need new housing and cables to be the proper length with areo bars. Some people mount their regular shifters on a base bar, but that isn't the best for shifting when in the aero position.

Shimano only makes one model of bar end shifters. They fundtion really well. Just bolt them on, thread the cable through the hold, connect to your derailers and off you go. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to set up. Really easy. Same cable. I would replace the cables anyway, it's only a couple of bucks per cable. Housing should be fine.

hrmmm so the bar shifters that shimano makes for say the last 4-5 years are safe to assume to be dura ace shifters then? it seems that way. but after browsing so many ebay listings, some mention ultegra, which is why i am asking

I'm pretty sure Shimano only makes one model of bar end shifter. They seem to last forever. I've never had to upgrade on my TT bikes...

No such thing as an Ultegra bar end shifter. Shimano only makes one model. They were smart and called it Dura Ace rather than Ultegra. Why not if it is your only model? Dura Ace is it and it works great. Easy set up.

Ultegra is 8 speed, not 9 speed. I didn't think they were around any more but there are still some out there in shops. Make sure you get 9 or 10 speed. That would be the Dura Ace model. Either Dura Ace 9 or Dura Ace 10, whichever you need.
