I have 1200 to spend on frame. I have no material preference. I have already decided on everything for this custom build but the frame.

I have narrowed it down to:

Cervelo Soloist Team: MSRP 1200

Vs

BMC Road Racer SL 01: MSRP 1095

I have rode the Soloist but not the BMC as no one in town has one built up.

This will be my training and racing bike.

Feel free to suggest another frame but know that I have looked at about everything to get those two frame choices.

Thank you.

Whichever you think is prettier.

Unless crashing it in a race would make you so sad you don't really race.

The Cervelo is going to be a little more aero if you use it as your only bike for mixed events with time-trials. It's also a little bit lighter.

I'm looking at the same two options for Crits and climbs/training....Coming from a CAAD8. I'm a clyde as well....CC has both frames with a $5 dollar difference....Need something stiff, but needs to fit into budget...Leaning towards the SL01 at the moment...

Thanks,

Bill

I have a 2004 BMC SL 01, I don't think the frame has change since then, except for colors (You can see it in a thread below under BMC SL01 2004/2005). It is a great frame, light and stiff yet the carbon rear stays and the carbon fork take the vibration out of the road.

Good luck in you choice!

both are great... i think that bmc is a little more unique... and rare... paint schemes of the bmcs are nicer..
