This is a gorgeous bike! One of the most beautiful frames I have ever seen. And the story is great. Pegoretti is a genius, really. :)

Yes. With '07 Campa Record/Chorus; Tune/Alex wheels; Reynolds Ouzo Pro...this will be a truly stunning bike.

I have been riding a pegoretti fina estampa for about three years. People talk about a magical quality of the ride, I think that the magic is in the quality construction and feel of the ride. The bike just feels solid without any bad habits or annoying characteristics. I recently installed an Easton fork that has a slightly different rake than the mizuno that came stock. I like the bike even more now. The easton rake is the same as the reynolds. Here is a shot.

You should post that other shot, bill, of when you were building that FE, on your porch or whatever.
A truly beautiful bike, yours is....Lots of soul.

PS: I thought DP generally spec'd Reynolds on his builds. Did he change over from Mizuno?

LOL!!!

With 17,000+ bikes in your barn, it's abundantly clear your vision has been blurred! :D

I am planning to meet him in November...and you, mi amigo, will eat your words! :)

Here are the shots that I think you are talking about. The day I installed the K-wing bars, otherwise known as the afternoon of a thousand cuss words. As far as I know, Pegorettis starting getting Reynolds forks in 2004. There was nothing wrong with the mizuno fork (until it broke), but a side by side comparison with the Easton SL showed just how far carbon technology has come. FWIW, having ridden Reynolds O-Pro, Mizuno, Easton, and Kestral, I would have to say that the Mizuno was the stiffest. I had a Reynolds on my Merckx MX Leader (I know) and the transition from the stock steel to carbon was a non event. The Easton is not as stiff, but it is stiff enough and really feels good on a long ride.

Well, one of the reasons I buy every bike I see is that I want to be able to talk smack without people jamming me for not knowing what I'm talking about.

He is a genius, at marketing. My Fina is nice bike. Heavy, sturdy and with a paint job an aborigine in the outback might interpret as "I ate one too many funnel web spiders before going to be last night and it messed with my dream state."

I'm jealous you're heading to Italia while I'm stuck here in Shanghai. Give him my regards and don't smoke too many second hand cigarettes.

Hi Cadence!
Nice touch with the fingerprint. I see that love is in the air with those new wheels of yours. Now, if I can only convince Anneli that I need one more in the shed... maybe you or Terry can give us a call and work your magic on her for me :)
Cheers, Wayne

Will do! I'll tell him: "Hey, Dario, terryb has a Fina that he leaves in a NM barn with 7" of summer rain!"
And he'll probably reply, "You know, that boy really needs one of those "nice" butterfly Colnago ForEvers, while he's in Shanghai...." :D

PS: You haven't moved over there yet, have you? Have fun either way! It's really great you are learning the language...just imagine the things you'll be able to tell alienator when you're fluent!

Can you say "Jean Michel Basquiat"?

Sweet bike. I really like the paintjob. I once did someting like that for a friend's rigid fork when we raced 24 Hours of Moab together. I primer'd it, slopped on the artist's oils deftly but heavily, let it dry to two weeks, and clearcoated it. (I'll see if I can dig up a pic...) Believe it or not - and I don't mean to lessen your beautiful new frame - sometimes paintjobs like that are easier than trying to get a one-color-plus-clearcoat perfectly spotless. I think that was the inspiration behind BMW's "Art Cars" or the 80s, too.

I WISH that was my bike! I just posted it because I think it is really an amazing thing.

Basquiat was a poseur. More like this lineage, IMHO:

Hi Wayne. Are you back in SvenskEden?

Like I said, this is not my bike (I wish it was.)...I'm just posting the LOVE. :)
You should read the whole WeightWeenies thread to see all the pics and the story on the fingerprints.

I say terryb is definitely the man for the job; he has bike purchasing perfected to an art form. What's his rule?: 15 minutes to think, 15 minutes to buy? Something like that.
Or, you could house-sit for him, while he's off in Shanghai....

No, I've not moved here yet although after 2+ weeks it's beginning to feel like it.

Was walking home last night and saw to locals in complete Discovery kit. One riding a roadie of some unknown brand, one riding a Bike Friday. :D
