I just received my October issue of Cycle Sport USA and it's all about riding and competing clean.
The front page has these white wristbands with the slogan "I Support Drug Free Sport" engraved. I bought one for $1 with shipping from cyclesportmag.com. There's a link on the right hand side of the site.
I dont know where this money is going. Honestly I bought it to replace the LiveStrong band on my wrist. I've been looking for a new cause to support, and while curing cancer will always have my support, my yellow wristband needs to temporarily retire.
Here's the link to buy the wristband:

RIDE CLEAN
The clean riding bit needs regulation not charity. I'll save my pesos for the worthy, charitable causes.

I think Alienator nailed this one. What exactly is the point of these wristbands for clean riding? The organizations are well-funded, the rules are well-established, and public opinion is well-known. Comparing these to charity fundraiser bands designed to increase visibility around diseases in need of cure/treatment seems a little weak.
Looking for a new cause? There are ribbons for MS, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, and no doubt many more!

RIDE CLEAN would have made a better wrist band. Either way, it's a silly idea.

That's a separate issue. That goes back to the thread about whether you shower before you ride.

Not to mention that anyone who isn't riding clean now has his/her prey clearly tagged for them:) I just finished browsing the mag, I can't believe they have the cohones to place an add for something like this and not give any indication at all of where the money is going. A little lacking in ethical fortitude if you ask me.

They told you where the $1 is going. It goes to shipping. You're not funding anything by buying this band.

Let's see......I can buy a Livestrong band for a $1, which then goes toward cancer research, or I can buy a "don't dope" band for a $1, which then apparently goes to a shipper, all so that, what, I can make a stupidly obvious statement that doping is bad? No thanks. I'd rather do something useful with charity money.....like help someone.

This isn't charity and it doesn't cost $1 to ship something that weighs as much as a letter. They're probably using the remaining 30-odd cents to cover production.
Just because someone supports a cause doesn't mean the cause is a type of charity. It could be a principle that a person believes in or adheres to.
