My old Bellwether rain jacket is starting to show its age. That, and it is made of coated nylon, so it does not breathe.
Today, I was able to find a both a Burley Rock Point jacket (blue & black) and a Shower’s Pass Century jacket (goldenrod & black) in my size. Both were within $10.00 of each other, and within the range I was planning on spending.
I’ve used the search feature to research both jackets, and am of the opinion that both are comparable in the grand scheme of things. Now I do tend to prefer colors that are noticeable to drivers. Given that, which would my better choice? Any thoughts or opinions one way or the other?

...and it fits, be aware that it's your last chance to get one. Burley is shutting down everything but trailer production, as of right now. Personally, I'm with you as far as visibility goes--just wanted to let you know that Burley is going away as a clothing and bicycle manufacturer.

Was aware of what's happened with Burley since their sale last month to a new owner. Had the Rock Point been in yellow, I might have snatched it right then.

I have the Showers Pass jacket in the yellow/black colors as in the picture. I like the jacket quite a bit. I normally use it when it's cooler out as it uses a heavier material than a windbreaker I have(a Pearl Izumi). It has fairly good ventilation with an open flap on the back and underarm zippers, and also large arm cuffs that can either be left open or closed.
I like the reflective stripes that it has on it as well. It seems to me that the yellow jacket would also be more visible than the blue one.

Well, I went and did it. I was in an LBS at the other end of the valley from where I live. Residents of Ashland might know about Ashland Street Bicycles (http://www.ashlandstreetbicycles.com/).
Anyway, Jack had one of the Shower's Pass Club jackets (in Yelling Yellow  ) in stock, in my size. And yes, it fit like it was made for me. Worse yet, I had my checkbook with me, and there was a fair sized balance in the account. :blush2: Now all I have to do is wait for a rainy day to see how well this jacket really works.

I have the same debate going myself, including one other option! I hate too many choices. It makes indecisive people like me angry. :) I look forward to a ride report.
A side note, I just picked up a Mountain Hardware Transition jacket. It is made with Gore N2S (next to skin) material. I rode with it this AM here in Portland. I must say, it is rad. Props to them for making something that will be comfy when it is less than 40 out to about 50 (without precip.). It has nice little reflective bits here and there. It is a little expensive at $110. It breathes pretty well. I had some perspiration develope on my forearms (maybe the vest version would be better?). Though not cycling specific, it works well for highly aerobic activites. I look forward to xc-skiing with it. I don't run, unless something is chasing me, so I do not plan on using it for that, though it looks like it would suffice.
Sorry for the derail! Carry on, nothing to see here people.

No derail here. A detour maybe.
With any kind of luck, others using the search feature may learn from our (mis)adventures. :D
