Will this thing bring down ANY riders?
Good on t-mobile for stepping up to the plate with their new, clean game. But Ullrich looks like he might be "cleared" to ride by Swiss cycling soon, and would he really have a hard time finding a team?
Basso might be "cleared" soon, and Riis has now said he's welcome back at CSC (despite his refusal to give a DNA test to prove his innocence)
Botero has been "cleared"
Now they're saying Mancebo might be "cleared"
At least some of the Lib Seguros bunch have been "cleared:" contador, luis leon sanchez, I think, maybe a couple of others.
All for "lack of evidence."

I think it all boils down to the fact that there is no law against doping in Spain so despite the Spanish police compiling a huge file, none of it was aimed at proving any of the cyclists doped but rather at proving a case against Fuentes. Since the Federations need significant proof to take action in the absence of a positive test I think they are all finding it just isn't there and they can't really do anything.
I seriously doubt they will even be able to get the good doctor because if no riders are going to be banned the 5 riders that had reportedly agreed to testify against him would be jeopardizing their careers with their testimony so other than Manzano they will likely change their minds and not testify.
Ullrich is still an interesting case since he was reported to have produced a zero EPO sample several times and a positive for a masking agent is just as bad as a positive for the drug itself. Whether any of those samples are still available is another question but the mere absence of EPO is proof of some kind of tampering because if it were an undoctored sample he would be dead from anemia.

... but the mere absence of EPO is proof of some kind of tampering ....
A) not true, in all the fuss about Armstrong's '99 B sample results there was a lot of talk about how a mishandled sample could degrade. B) Even if we stipulate that the sample was not mishandled, make the case that Ullrich tampered with it based solely on the test results.

and yet we still have to hear of the identities of other O.P.rs in other sports...conspiracy anyone?

This is a complete joke. That's fine, as long as people realize that the ProTour is to cycling what the WWF is to wrestling.
