Strait of Hormuz. There's just one.

""I think the plan's been picked: bomb the nuclear sites in Iran," says Gardiner. "It's a terrible idea, it's against US law and it's against international law, but I think they've decided to do it." Gardiner says that while the United States has the capability to hit those sites with its cruise missiles, "the Iranians have many more options than we do: They can activate Hezbollah; they can organize riots all over the Islamic world, including Pakistan, which could bring down the Musharraf government, putting nuclear weapons into terrorist hands; they can encourage the Shia militias in Iraq to attack US troops; they can blow up oil pipelines and shut the Persian Gulf." Most of the major oil-producing states in the Middle East have substantial Shiite populations, which has long been a concern of their own Sunni leaders and of Washington policy-makers, given the sometimes close connection of Shiite populations to Iran's religious rulers."

I don't think so, but they keep raising them so I'm guessing you'll be OK...you can always just go over as a merc if you're too old. The Army needs some cannon fodder.

Actually, good point. Snake has expertise in the oil industry, so he could help them rebuild and become self sufficient. And make good money to boot! How about it Snake, why not help achieve victory in Iraq?

If we attack Iran under the current circumstances, I'll use it as an excuse to move to beautiful British Columbia where I dream of starting a wood business (a family tradition) to feed my family, backcountry skiing, mteering and cycling addictions.

Maybe RBR could fund a diplomatic group of you guys to go over there and reason with those guys. If you save the day, those of us with a more war like stance won't have to get involved. If we are putting our money where our mouths are, you first?

20 years ago I might have gone with you but I can't stand the cold and I'm not all that fond of bears these days. I'll just wish you well on your venture and sit here amid the smoke and ashes. :)

Uhmmm... let's get the sequence correct. That was you who chimed in as the Siss-Boom-Bah-Shock-N-Ya-Awl Chicken-Hawk cheer leading squad at post/reply #4.

If you can keep your location near the water, its surprisingly moderate climate. Have to take it well North and inland to get the brutal winters. I'd keep it near the water myself so I could still ride a long season and still have the mt ranges within a few hrs driving.

I think you are all misled, Iran is a sideshow, like Spain and Abyssinia in the 1930s.
The real threat is from China. Iran will be lucky to build a useable atomic bomb in the next few years. N. Korea may already have a couple, but atomic bombs are fairly puny, a bunker-buster bomb is almost as powerfull.
China has thermonuclear weapons, an increasing arms industry, will soon have as many aircraft carriers as the US and a massive set of bunkers and fall-out shelters and the ability to attack the US with ballistic missiles.
What are they building up their forces for ?

When I was a young man my dream was a backwoods fishing trip to a secluded lake in Canada. I still would enjoy that if it was summer and the mosquitos wouldn't bleed me dry. I think I'll pass on the ski slopes though. That is beautiful country though.

Young man? How old are you anyway? Like 100? If you hurry you might be able to catch a plane to Iran yet today. Get there before the action starts even.

So why the heck is this asshat administration so concerned about Iran then? Are they trying to wag the dog to take America's minds off of their failed policies? Or are they just trying to take over the entire ME?
