I just saw an interview with an Air America host on MSNBC about the border fence. His name was Mike Papantonio and he said the fence isn't going to help, we have to go after those who hire illegals. Hes right. Stupid fences!

When do we start?

I'm afraid it's a non starter.

I agree--are you saying you don't think this is good advice? Maybe we should just gun them down as they cross instead?

the fence idea is stupid, but it's very easy to communicate to those who don't think through the issues

Maybe what he means is that the fence isn't going to help because it isn't going to be built.

The fine print of the bill which was passed does not require any fence to be built, it merely provides the funds necessary to build a 700 mile fence, but then it allows those funds to be used for roads or other projects as seen fit.

BTW, I thought this thread was going to be yet ANOTHER scoop on Air America declaring bankruptcy (for, what, the 40th time?)

Why don't we just get big versions of these so we can fling the interlopers over the fence? It'd be hella fun.

Here is a story that discusses and confirms the information regarding undies' fence post (pun intended) in detail:

by a Mexican-American artist. Had the help of Super Dave as tech advisor. Shot himself from a cannon over the wall where it enters the pacific (water landing).

I love that Cons, the side of business show such little knowledge of the simplest rule of economics. Last I checked it was called supply and demand.
Trying to attack this from the supply end just means the value of those that get through are worth more. (see war on drugs) this encourages more to make the attempt.
reduce the demand and the supply will dwindle. (see cocaine use among caucasians in the mid 80's)
demand reduction is the only thing that will actually work. We've had a wall here for decades, sure hasn't seemed to do much.
