Well I am sitting in a hotel in Milwaukee pecking this out on a Blackberry. I found myself here on business, but I had some spare time before a dinner meeting. What to do? It turns out that Waterford is only a 45 minute drive, so I called Waterford and asked a "crazy question" if I could stop by and see the shop. No problem. They showed me around, introduced me to The Man, and even let me pat Gunnar. Wow that was fun for a steel bike junky. The new bikes were sweet, and the restorations made me drool. Very nice guys

Man, I love Waterfords. I wish MB1'd just go ahead and buy me one already. The wait is killing me.

Yes! They are just plain nice. I mean they just seemed happy to show off the place to some random guy. Richard even knew of a couple of the Schwinn shops in NJ where I cranked out varsitys and continentals as a kid. I met the artist who does custom lugs. Yeah no camera on the trip. The coolest thing I saw was that they have the original decals and head badges to do perfect paramount restorations.

I hope you are not holding your breath.

My brother and I stopped at the Waterford plant on the way back from a bike tour in north-central Wisconsin a few years ago. We just dropped in unannounced, and they were very friendly and showed us around the whole place. I was surprised at how low tech it all appeared. No assembly lines. At that time, they were making Waterfords, Gunnars, and Salsa frames (and stems) at the plant.

Yeah I kept looking at the names on the tubes, but I don't imagine you use your nom de plume with them. I was hoping to see one that said miss mb
