I wrote a column about that when it happened, for the benefit of the 61 percent of Americans who think Fox News is the fairest and most balanced of the networks. At the time, Fox hadn't offered an explanation. I've been pretty much out of touch for about a week--did they ever come up with anything? The used it at least twice, in an original broadcast and again in a taped rebroadcast three hours later, apparently after they'd had several hundred complaints. I can buy "Oops" for the first one, but not the repeat.

I don't know why they would try to misrepresent him in this way, the captions are generally accompanied by a great deal of information given verbally. Are House members referred to as delegates by any chance? I have seen an R in front of people I knew to be Democrats and it stood for Representative. It seems to me that one would have to exist in a vaccuum to believe this man was a Democrat. A great deal of money has been spent by the Democratic leadership to alert the voting public as to his true affiliations.

Whether it was a mistake or motives were involved the post really should have been somthing to the effect. "Well that sure was stupid." Instead you even found time to blame the democrats for getting the word out about a pederast and the cover up that followed.

As far as I know, no, they didn't write up an apology, or explain the mistake, or anything like that. They've let it go. And with it, more of the journalistic integrity, if they had any to begin with, has gone up in smoke again.

Members are not known as delegates to answer Snake's question. It was a manipulation as to what party Foley, and Chafee, were actually members of in order to possibly change the direction of the discussion. Now, I do agree with you that you'd have to be living in a cave somewhere to not know that Foley was a republican, but there are people who will believe whatever it is they see. And this might be another case of such a thing.

Fox has just proven, contrary to their moto that they are fair and balanced, that they're not even remotely close to being fair and balanced.
