View Full Version : She's Alive!!!! My first Single/fixed project. PICS!
ADKBiker 10-15-2006, 08:38 AM Well, I finally got her done late last night. I took her for a spin around the block, man it was cold out!, being in the north eastern part of the states, what was I expecting. There were a few little things I noticed when I first got on her. Obviously the rims made little plucking nioses, they were adjusting to the weight. I had it on the Freewheel side, I just wanted to make sure everything is tight on the bike and notice any adjustments that needed to be made before I learn how to ride a fixie. My chainline is straight, thanks to the help from everyone in my earlier post. I am noticing that the freewheel does make some nioses. Is this normal? I am comparing it to my muti-geared bike which does not make any noise. Are Shimano singlespeed freewheels noisey or should it be completely silence? When I rode it I notice that freewwheel was tightening as I pedaled. This bike is fast! I bought a pain of Nasbar Prima 2 Plus Kevlar tires with black sidewalls. I already like these tires. I am using a 40t front and 16t rear on a Fomula Hub laced to Weinnman 27in rims. This wheel is from Sheldenbrown/Harris bikes. Those guy are awesome! They know their stuff and they truely help you out! Thanks Harris bikes! OK....I should stop talking. Here are some pics. They are not the greatest, remember it was late and I was mad tired. I will post better ones today. Oh, yeah let me know about the noise thing with the freewheel. Thanks!

twrecks 10-15-2006, 08:44 AM Nice bike! Does it have horizontal drop outs or did you get lucky with the chain tension?
I also like the in-progress bar chop, you make it look easy.
Hopefully you'll get some warm days to get some rides in yet this year.

Actually it has horizontal drops. They aren't the super long ones, but they work great!
Dave Hickey 10-15-2006, 09:39 AM Outstanding. The bike looks great and the work in progress pics deserve to have this thread as a sticky:)

beergood 10-15-2006, 08:17 PM I love the dice. I am going to borrow that idea, if you don't mind. I don't like the look of the shifter nubs on my frame, but don't want to grind/torch them off.
warmseth 10-16-2006, 01:12 AM your le tour is much much cleaner than mine LOL

Howzitbroke 10-16-2006, 06:26 AM How are they attached? Did you just drill out some dice and glue on? Nice ride. Very nice.

Yes you have to drill them, but be very careful.
Here are some new pics.

You guys and girls won't believe where I found this bike. My father was driving near the neighborhood and found this bike out by the curb next to the garbage infront of someones house. The bike didn't even have the right size rear wheel. I think it was a 26 in steel wheel. This poor bike had seen better days. The paint was not in the greatest shape. I compound the paint and hand polished it. It really didn't have much rust on the inside of the frame. Only lite surface rust in the seat tube, up by the seat post, and a little in the head tube and fork tube. I removed the little bit of rust it had (all surface rust) and spray JP Weigle frame saver. It looks great in there now. Gotta love steel!
Let me know what you think now that it is daylight.
ADKBiker 10-16-2006, 07:33 AM The badge looks better then this pic. All the paint is there and no scratches.

Check your LBS for BMX dice valve caps. My dice came drilled and I glued them on the shift bosses..

No one carries them around here. If you drill make sure you keep the drill spining.
ChuckUni 10-16-2006, 05:38 PM Sweet ride! ....and oh yeah...the bike is sweet too. :)

True, the bike isn't too bad. lol!
iherald 10-24-2006, 01:33 PM I'm sure this is a lame question, but how did you get the handle bars like that?

I cut them. Take a look at the pictures above.

"Dave Hickey"(the moderator of these forums) wanted it that way
