I'm a triathlete, in the market for a new bike. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices. The BMC Pro Machine & the Cervelo Soloist Carbon. I do Ironmans, so the bike will be used for base Kms. Basically, the bike needs to be comfortable, at the same time fast, for the occasional road races.
Would appreciate feedback on both bikes. Positive/Negative inputs are most welcome.
Thanks.

anywho, if you're going to be competing in tri, why not go with a more tri specific bike and keep your beater for road races? Out of those two, however, the Cervelo i think would be the best bet. It's based around a more tri-oriented frame, with a larger angled ST. That'd be my choice

I am riding a Pro Machine and loving every bits of it. But to be fair, the Soloist is arguably a more aero bike with its aero tube shape so it might fits your needs better. It is probably more rigid too. The advantage of the Pro Machine over the Soloist is comfort due to its great vertical compliance. It is also lighter and hence a better climber. So you have to weigh between the advantage of aero versus comfort to make you decision. And that's a tough choice since you are doing Ironman, not just a shorty tri race.
But the other reviewer is right. Why not consider a Tri specific bike, like a Cervelo P2C? It's more affordable than Soloist and Promachine, get you into a real aero position, and it's relatively comfortable.

the good thing about the soloist is that its designed to be ridden either in regular road mode and then flippped seatpost so that you can set up more in a TIMETRI/TRIATHLON mode with the bike...
seems more fit for your needs.. however this all could just be some shiny cervelo marketing at its finest... which obviously i was sucker to...
