My girl needs new levers. She has standard road brakes, and I'd like to put some cheap tektro or other brand 2finger bmx levers on it. I've seen them for less than $20/pair on eBay. Which would work considering clamp diameter and amount of pull that the lever pulls?

Are you talking about the levers on the bends of a drop bar or the in-line ones that go up by the stem?

Just find some cyclocross bartop levers and terminate the cable after the lever. I've seen bmx lever setups but I'm not sure how if the power is easy enough to modulate.

How about these?

$25 with shipping for the pair...

On ebay, the tagline read Pyramid Type I CycleCross Cross Levers (pair) NEW

I never heard of this brand and googling didn't come up with any hits either...Pyramid? I know nothing about cyclocross, so maybe that's why?

I just put some Cane Creek cyclecross levers on mine last night. They are probably rebranded Tetko units. I paid $29.99 at my local LBS for a pair. Them come in both 31.8 and 26.0 clamp diameter.

The only caution is the 31.8 actually fit on the bulge portion of the bar whereas the 26.0 size only fit on the bar themselves and not on the bulge

BMX levers won't work because the bar diameter is too big for the lever

Here is the Cane Creek lever installed..Note that these levers are designed to be used with standard STI levers. The cable is supposed to route from the STI lever through this lever and to the brake. It is supposed to allow you to use brakes while riding in the bar tops. They work great as a stand alone lever with no modifications

Quick thread hi-jack. O.K. Dave, what's w/the DC-10 model on the desk (sorry, HAD to ask)???

Tron, I ran an 80's Shimano DX lever on my messenger bike as my E-brake. It worked fine with a standard road caliper. If you were relying on it all the time it might feel under powered.

The inline cross levers work very well, Ive set numerous customers on them.

Good eye. L-1011. I'm in the airfreight business. Unfortunately we had to retire her 2 years ago. She had too many hours on the airframe. The last I heard she's flying in Africa somewhere.

We only fly A300 freighters now. It's a shame because "Sara Kate" was a great airplane
