Hi...about to order Hutchinson's smooth/silver stem tubes. Not sure what my existing stem lengths are...just want to make sure the 36mm will clear the rim with enough stem to easily pump it.
Thoughts?

View Full Version : 36mm valve stem long enough for Mavic SL wheel? A4B45200 11-03-2006, 09:22 AM Hi...about to order Hutchinson's smooth/silver stem tubes. With the smooth stem before the tire is inflated, there is just not enough to grab onto. Wiley J 11-03-2006, 03:17 PM Do they make a smooth silver stem in a longer length? If so, where can you get them? A4B45200 11-03-2006, 03:43 PM Do they make a smooth silver stem in a longer length? If so, where can you get them? Yea they do. Biketiresdirect has a 52mm smooth silver stem (which I ended up getting). However its the 'lite' version of the Hutchinson tube for about a buck more each. The cheaper version only came in 36mm stems, hence my concern. I ended getting the 52mm after their Customer Service said it would work (the shorter 32mm valve), but very little stem will show which they said 'should be enough for most pumps'. Knowing my luck, my pumps are not 'most' :mad2: So I went the safe route and got the longer ones. All this so that I can have a cooler looking valve stem for my SL wheels  |
