I took this from up on the barrier. It was starting to rain and Mario's bike can be seen at the bottom sliding along.

When the reports said some deep cuts I was a bit confused...sliding rash I understand, but a cut? Then I saw the OLN footage and just cringed when I watched only Cippo... Cippo went down, slid a bit, not too bad looking. Once he was down, he looks behind him a bit like he is gonna roll left or right to avoid riders from hitting him. Then, some rider ends up going straight at Cippo....can't get around so he pulls a motorcycle type emergency stop...putting the bike sideways and laying it down. On a bike, this maneuver happens to end up with the chainring pointing right at the target. When Cippo gets hit, his whole body is jarred from the impact. Good thing it was a sprint, the chain had to be on the big chain ring...I'd hate to think what would happen otherwise. Those things can be dangerous. jaybike 06-11-2004, 07:32 PM Now how about a picture. mellowman 06-12-2004, 08:05 AM Somethings funny with the picture. The Saeco guy in mid air looks wierd. Whats up with that wheel in front of him. Its bigger than any other wheel. Where is his front wheel? I think I see it but there are other wierd shadows that distort it. Weird picture. Not that I think anyone altered it. Manhattan 06-13-2004, 04:11 PM Somethings funny with the picture. The Saeco guy in mid air looks wierd. Whats up with that wheel in front of him.
