Basso was one of the names back in the good old days when I started out. They never had the cachet of names like Bianchi or Colnago but they made a nice bike.

I did not know they had any Ti bikes in their collection so I assume it was made for them by someone else and then rebadged.

Let us know how it goes on this one.

What size do you take anyway??

apparently it was made by Litespeed and then rebadged as a Basso frame. I usually ride a 58ish ST and a 57ish TT give or take a little.

I have an '03 Basso Coral, all aluminum, and like it very much. The build quality of the frame is outstanding and the geometry fits me quite well.

that, but I'm not crazy about buying from overseas...AND the guy won't take paypal, which pretty much negates any possibility of me bidding on it.

Phys,

I've bought from overseas. It's no big deal. It is just the same as any other seller - make sure the feedback is good.

Heck - there are lots of ebayers who refuse to sell outside of the US. All you're doing is putting the box in a mailbox - the post office takes it from there.

The last frame I sold went to Southern Ireland. took 4 weeks but arrived in perfect condition.

and I might be receptive to doing it if he took Paypal, so that there was some insurance, but I'm not at all interested in sending a personal check or money order overseas.

Agreed on that point.

Agreed on that point.

it's a shame, because I see that same seller swijland on there A LOT, and he seems to have a steady supply of nice Merckx frames...oh well. Just keep looking. Gotta find a winter project.

Basso makes a great frame: I have a Reef and a Viper. But I agree with the others that the eBay Ti frame is probably made by Lightspeed for Basso. They just introduced a new Ti frame to their lineup at a recent bike show; not sure who makes that one. They are calling it a Zer.9, which was used to denote a scandium/carbon frame until recently. Basso seems to like recycling their model names on significantly different bikes....
