biketillyapuke 06-10-2004, 03:50 AM In light of the Passing of old Ronnie I thought I would test your general knowledge with some Regan era trivia questions.
1) What was HUAC and how did it pertain to Regan?
2) What was Regan's position on blacklisting?

My Brain is Hanging Upside Down (Bonzo Goes to Bitburg)--
You've got to pick up the pieces
Come on, sort your trash, you better
Pull yourself back together
Maybe you've got too much cash, better
call call the law
When you gonna turn yourself in yeah
You're a politician
Don't become one of Hitler's children
Bonzo goes to Bitburg
And goes out for a cup of tea
As I watch it on TV
Somehow it really bothers me
Drank in all the bars in town
For an extended foreign policy
Pick up the pieces
Na-na-na
My brain is hanging upside-down
Na-na-na
I need something to slow me down
Shouldn't wish you happiness
Wish her the very best
50,000 dollar dress
Shaking hands with your highness
See through it like cellophane
You watch the world complain, but you do it anyway
Who am I, am I to say
Bonzo...
If there's one thing that makes me sick
That's when someone tries to hide behind politics
I wish their time would go by fast
But somehow they manage to make it last
Na-na-na
wordup 06-10-2004, 12:02 PM Maybe your first question should have focused on how to spell RR's last name!!
biketillyapuke 06-10-2004, 06:40 PM Sorry bout the spelling. My weakest point in High school so it is appropriate.
Very impressed by the Ramones lyrics.
Reagan was pro blacklisting. Some have suggested that the reason he went into politics was that he knew after the fall of MaCarthy that he would never find work.
The conclusion about Ed Meese was that there were no grounds to indict him at that time.
I'm pro-blacklisting. As it turns out, Hollywood (and New Your), and the State Deprtment were in fact full of Communists. I know some of them personally. I was IATSE once. Do you think the (mostly immigrant) bus drivers in NYC formed the TWU on their own? Hollywood was full of Communists then, and is full of drug addicts now. None of this should be news to you.
Reagan's last contribution to this great nation is to provide a forum for the left wingers to expose themselves as the inhuman cretins they are, just in time to swing a close election to the Repubs.
Dave_Stohler 06-11-2004, 11:03 AM 2) Reagan enforced it. He was the head of the Screen Actor's Guild at the time.
7) That was the illustrious James Watt.
biketillyapuke 06-11-2004, 11:06 AM They were responsible for the Sandinista Death squads and the hundreds of thousands killed in South America with our support.
biketillyapuke 06-13-2004, 06:41 PM I am a total Ramones Fan. Met Joey, have his autograph. Even at one time tried to discipher the lyrics to Warthog. A friend of mine did a tarot card reading for Joey. Had him sign his album "Gabba, Gabba Hey."
My point is that the lyrics are wrong. I think the line goes
"50,000 dollar dress
She can outdo your highness."
NOT
"Shaking hands with your highness."
You unfortunately get a B+ for not noticing that.

I just copied it from a website. Never could understand 90% of what Joey was grunting in that song before that.
