It seems like the bike would come together so much more with red tape (with the accents on the fork, rims, headset, etc.). yobdlog 11-19-2006, 02:39 PM very cool bike. One quick aesthetic quibble though . . . why opt for pink bar tape? It seems like the bike would come together so much more with red tape (with the accents on the fork, rims, headset, etc.). Its just a seasonal thing for me - it'll got through many evolutions of color - I switch bar tape every few months - red did cross my mind - but white is in the tool box so that will most likely be the next candidate. No quibbles at all - I did have a pink saddle that matched it - but like the silver more. terry b 11-19-2006, 03:10 PM I'm aliken it. I tried real hard to pick up a Kelly as he was selling off his stock. Alas, nothing in my size. orange_julius 11-19-2006, 03:37 PM That is one very tasteful bike! I love the color coordination with the white-ish carbon parts. allons-y 11-19-2006, 04:06 PM what do you think of force so far? im thikning about getting a rival for the road bike for spring race season. and sweet, i like it. enjoy yobdlog 11-19-2006, 05:25 PM what do you think of force so far? im thikning about getting a rival for the road bike for spring race season. and sweet, i like it. enjoy I've only logged about 150 miles on this bike - the shifting is definitely excellent - the brakes are top notch. My favorite part of about the grouppo is the front derailleur not having anymore trim - just small or big ring pretty instantaneously on the fly - there is very little to no chain rub on certain gear combos in the big ring but its mostly at the crossover gear and again its not inhibitive of any performance. I went the whole shibang and got all of the FORCE grouppo for this bike. So far its all works fantastic and its pretty hot to look at. allons-y 11-19-2006, 05:34 PM I've only logged about 150 miles on this bike - the shifting is definitely excellent - the brakes are top notch. No quibbles at all - I did have a pink saddle that matched it - but like the silver more. Some silver Fizik tape would look pretty tough too. atpjunkie 11-20-2006, 01:35 PM Red Saddle too. I think Fizik makes a red and silver one. yobdlog 11-20-2006, 05:34 PM I chose Pink bar tape to accentuate the original Pink saddle that I had (it was 'too' much!) - but the pink is still on the headset and the hubs - so it all ties in). Red sounds like an excellent choice too - that will be a choice as well. I think white is the next go round. AlexCad5 11-22-2006, 06:25 AM Not so sure about eraser pink and moss green, but red wouldn't be much better. I'd try a blue or a grey blue. Cool bike. I like the ITM bars and stem. They aren't really light or ergonomic but tre cool looking and third less than easton. Phat&SlowVelo 11-22-2006, 07:21 AM I'm liken it, love the SRAM, Chris King headset and hubs, nice to see a cool Kelly. Swap out the silver rims for black, and throw on some black bar tape. cannonball 11-26-2006, 02:16 PM I went w/ blue on mine. yobdlog 11-26-2006, 04:49 PM Hey Cannonball - nice on the blue - that was a choice as well. I'm sure we'll go through some color changes...overall...the 'light moss' green (toothpaste!) color is so subtle it makes it hard to color match to primary colors. I had a hard time figuring out what exactly I wanted the colors to be. When did you get your Bonestock? I had to remove the labels - not a big fan of a lot of stickers on a bike and my model wasn't clearcoated over the decals so I removed the ones that bugged my eyes - which was most of them but left the substantial decals to at least name the bike. Its a very smooth ride! SadieKate 11-26-2006, 05:09 PM yobdlog, I like your pink! It's hard to see in the pictures but Chris' toothpast mint green is much prettier in person. The pink is brilliant. We've got three Kelly's in the stable (2 Knobbies and a Bone) and love them all. cannonball 11-26-2006, 06:15 PM Hey Cannonball - nice on the blue - that was a choice as well. Its a very smooth ride! Thanks, I had some blue cables from another build and they seemed to look good, so I went from there... I like the look of the white carbon on yours a lot!!! I got mine during the close out in August. Too good to pass up. yobdlog 11-26-2006, 06:35 PM Thanks, I had some blue cables from another build and they seemed to look good, so I went from there... I like the look of the white carbon on yours a lot!!! I got mine during the close out in August. Too good to pass up. I also got mine during the closeout! 48X53 eh? I couldn't believe my luck as I really was looking for a steel frame to build out for next year's season. The white carbon was 'accidental' - I went shopping for handlebars and wanted to feel them and try them fitted on a bike before buying so I went through a month of trying out every bar on the market to fnd out what felt good in my hands (small hands and I typically ride on the tops) - the ITM geometry felt the best for me at the pricepoint I was willing to pay - oddly though - the seatpost and stem weren't available anywhere (in the sizes I was needing) from any distributor in the U.S. White oddly was....so I went with white. Otherwise it would've been regular carbon color. So I followed suit with the wheels to get the silver DT rims and spokes and nipples. I had the pink saddle - but it was 'too' much pink for my taste despite it matching the bartape dead on - so I got the silver one. Thankfully through all the buying endeavor I've had good friends in right places and eBay helped. |
