Just asking. How long will Nike want him to play "poster boy", etc? Trek has moved on. I don't think he will sell many cars. What now for Lance?

Errrr... Training, getting on with life after professional sports, spending time with his kids, travelling around for meetings for his 24hr fitness work, doing Foundation work, resting..

Living a life like what other ex professionals are doing since they retired from their sport...

Endorsing things. Dealing with Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team's admin work/signing guys/advice/collaborating with Johan..

And other stuff..

And the Madone's Description:
A RIDE WORTHY OF A TOUR CHAMPION:
Lance Armstrong never stops pushing himself.
At Trek, we take the same approach to building bikes. Handmade in Waterloo, Wisconsin from our proprietary OCLV Carbon, Madone is the ultimate in road performance.

I don't really think they've given up on him. There's something on him on basically every page...

one again in 2007, he already broke the biggest milestone in the marathon which is 3hours
so is down hill from here on. The nike company was built around running all the other stuff comes second even now, so for them this is better than a hollywood movie and yes he can be very competitive at his age, because his drive is nuts also has unlimited resources and time. My bet is that next year he will go under 2'45.

Lance doesn't have to work for the rest of his life. He and his children are finacially set.

He's spending a lot of time raising money for the LAF. The LAF set fundraising records this year so it must be working..

+1. Venus, you need to get off Lance's back. He has done his 'work', he can do whatever he wants for the rest of his life. He started a foundation whose sole purpose is to work on cancer research and making life better for cancer sufferers (like a few of my family members). He has done more for cancer in this country than the next 50 guys. If he does not decide to visit every cancer patient in the world, that does not diminish his accomplishments or his legacy.

Oh, and he won his seventh TDF a little over a year ago. He deserves to do whatever TF he wants from now on.

The only people who care about what Lance is doing are folks like Venus who seem to think that Lance Armstrong owes him something.

My company hired Lance to speak at my company sales meeting in Vegas. They also hired Bill Clinton and they had them scheduled at the same time and we had to choose one or the other. He basically told his cancer story and answered pre-screened questions at the end which were asked by one of our exec VP's who was also a cancer survivor. He was an OK speaker. At the end a bunch of us tried to get him to sign jerseys and stuff, but in true Lance style, he was in a limo within 60 seconds of getting off stage.

I actually wished I went to see Clinton instead. Apparently he was talking about some education program and said something like "we are trying to get school girls early" which got a chuckle out of the audience.

The night before they both spoke, they had dinner together at Craftsteak at the MGM about an hour after my co-workers and I had dinner there. Would have been interesting to see that.

Lance is living it up. Hob-nobbing with Clinton, hanging out in Malibu with his boyfriend Matthew McConaughey.I bet we paid him over $200,000 for that 1 hour speech.

After completing the NYC marathon he said he wants to win some Mountain bike XC race. Can't remember which one. He really is the most amazing athlete I've ever seen.

Yeah, that's it, thanks. I'm sure He'll win it. My question is what kind of bike will he be on. I hope not a Trek again. I would hope some other company would want to sponser him. I'd like to know also if he would ride a hardtail or FS? Hopefully it can be televised.

I can assure you it will be a Trek. Lance will ride Treks for the rest of his life as he has stated many times in his books. He will also wear Nike, Oakley and a few other sponsors that I can't think of forever. They were the only ones to give him a chance when nobody else would even look at him after his cancer.

Now, we all know he can dance on the bike while climbing, but dancing for real?? :D :D

Yeah he will be with Trek for good, same like David Beckham who signed a lifetime deal with Adidas.

Well, that would be cool, sure, but that's not what I meant. I just think that Trek has made tons of money off of his name, that's all.

Well, I'm sure they've shelled out plenty for his name, likeness, and endorsement too. That's business. I most certainly don't think he's been taken advantage of!

I was in an LBS yesterday and there was a Trek LiveStrong bike. This wasn't the super expensive Madone. This was a $700 flat bar road bike. I don't think that Lance and Trek are going to end their partnership anytime soon

where that he has a direct financial link to trek, how much I dont think it was mentioned.
Anyway he is running god too.:D About mtb race, I'm sure since he doesn't have any contractual obligations:thumbsup: about been healthy for the tour, he will take more chances on a mtb.

Well to charge an extra $500 for a Trek bike simply because of Lance's name is taking advantage IMO. I actually think it probably hurt them. I myself would not pay an extra $500 for a Trek.

I don't like trek because of lance....I hate showing up to a ride and seeing a boatload of Lance wannabes on USPS/Discovery themed bikes....drives me nuts. They are probably nice bikes, but because of their popularity I will never buy one...just my .02 cents...

I agree 100%. There is no question that their nice bikes(no better than any other, however) but my reason is that their overpriced because of him.

wow. just wow. o.O

well at least you're tenacious. however you're barking up the wrong tree, lance isn't here on RBR, we're not that cool. (we here actually have time to whine, b*tch, post, laugh, moan, cry, and floss online)

Trek bikes overpriced? How do you figure? When I compare the apples for apples with other companies bikes they are very competitive especially since they are not made by some near slave labor paid workers in Tiawan.

I believe it is admirable that Trek makes great bikes while maintaining a commitment to build those bikes in the country they originated. I for one am willing to pay maybe a slight bit more as some state for a bike made in my home country, although I dont feel I am paying more.

As far as those who say "I dont want to look like everyone else riding my Trek bike, because I will look stupid, etc" pleaaase grow up. Did it ever occur to you that by following the crowd of people that feel this way you are actually looking like everyone else?

I am not saying that Trek makes the right bike for everyone. To each his own. There are a lot of great bikes out there and everyone should enjoy the one they ride. I do not intend to sound hateful or anything, sorry if I do but I dont like people thinking I am a just trying to look like Lance because I ride a Trek. I ride one because I like their bikes and the bike shop near me that sells them is fantastic and treats you perfectly.

Everyone ride hard and have fun, we are all cyclists.
