I'm really looking forward to Stage 6. Should be fun watching them climb Balcom Canyon.

Too bad the TT is so short..(not sure why they include one especially one only 15 miles long) C40 12-06-2006, 06:38 PM I'm really looking forward to Stage 6. Should be fun watching them climb Balcom Canyon. http://www.velonews.com/race/dom/articles/11287.0.html We were at the second KOM just outside of Ojai and it was awesome watching the pros ride by. It's always intimidating to see a professional event up close for the first time just to see how much faster, stronger they really are as compared to us mere mortals. You have a greater appreciation for your sport when see a professional event live. We were undecided as to whether to view the race from the 2nd KOM or from Balcom. We decided on the 2nd just because we could park on the hill. I could not figure out where on Balcom to park. Anyhow, look forward to being there next year. It's been a while since I've been on that stretch of road, but it's probably best to park in Santa Paula or on South Mountain Road and ride up there. FWIW - The area found once you go over the top of the hill is some of the best riding in Ventura County. You could park in Moorpark and ride up to Balcom, although there is one pitch just before the peak that's pretty steep. See you there! JSR |
