View Full Version : Tough speech for Bush
Bocephus Jones 06-14-2004, 09:59 AM I imagine Bush wanted a few cocktails after delivering this obligatory speech to Mr and Mrs Clinton: http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/06/14/clinton.portraits/index.html Bill105 will probably want a copy of Hillary's portrait for his dartboard. ;)
Dctrofspin 06-14-2004, 10:06 AM Hey, they left the cigar in his hand out of the portrait!
Live Steam 06-14-2004, 10:12 AM They should have used this pic for the portrait. It's a much more accurate portrayal of their attention to the business at hand :O)
The Clintons as they pay their last respects to Ronald Reagan. They are a disgrace!

aaahhh!!!! It looks like they are the living dead. And look at those corpses in the background. I always went to sleep during the sermon in church too. Sooooooooo boring.
dr hoo 06-14-2004, 10:35 AM You know, only something like 23% of conservatives trust c-span.
It is video, and I am sure if we look through any video of ANYONE in that or any other crowd frame by frame we can catch blinks and expressions that look pretty silly or inattentive. It is the nature of video stills.
Propaganda photo if ever there was one. Nice job Steam.
Live Steam 06-14-2004, 10:47 AM No. I watched the sermon from beginning to end on NBC. They caught them both nodding off on camera at least twice. No mention of it by Brokaw though. I guess he has too much class to draw attention to something like that. LOL!!!

not just the Clintons.
Bill sure did look exactly like the Will Farrell "Clinton" on Saturday Night Live when he did, though. It was almost like a deliberate joke.

prayer. Look at the woman behind them.
Sharpen up, Steam!
Live Steam 06-14-2004, 11:52 AM Wait a minute there. 1. How do you know it was during a prayer? C-Span put this up to show the Clintons nodding off, not praying. 2. The couple behind them was the Fords. How old are they? They probably nod off during supper ;O) I didn't see anyone else nodding off. I watched it in HD on a large screen and didn't see anyone else nodding off. Maybe it was in protest. I read that Bubba was upset that he wasn't asked to speak. I can't imagine why he would think they would have wanted him to, either.
thatsmybush 06-14-2004, 11:57 AM This is now officially the most inane thread I have read through. It started out with nothing and then somehow evaporated from there. If anyone cares at all about how attentive some were at a funeral someone has time to feed the homeless or plant a tree or just twiddle their thumbs.
Live Steam 06-14-2004, 12:25 PM I'll be planting a Bush in November :O) Man you are one uptight dude. So Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum got caught in an embarrasing moment.
I could just envision the the media and the posts from the board libs if Bush was caught doing the same. Man it would have been brutal.

Planning on traveling to Crawford Texas then are we...
czardonic 06-14-2004, 12:28 PM Every moment Bush spends in front of the camera is an embarassment to him and to this nation.
czardonic 06-14-2004, 12:30 PM We know Steam ain't headed to Afghanistan or Iraq any time soon.
Live Steam 06-14-2004, 12:32 PM In November you will find you are in the minority with those sentiments.

Who cares. Clinton probably dind't like Reagan and Reagan didn't care for him. It's all a political pose anyway. I imagine there were plenty of politicians there that were planning what they were going to have for dinner while they listened to the officiant drone on.
czardonic 06-14-2004, 12:36 PM That would be another embarassing day for this nation.
HouseMoney 06-14-2004, 01:43 PM I don't think it was a tough speech at all. Dubya was respectful & magnanimous in his typical easy-going way. He even tossed out a few good-natured barbs (I particularly liked the ones directed at Tony & Hugh Rodham and Clinton's upcoming book!). Dubya came across as a self-assured good sport. He may not possess the speaking ability that Reagan was famous for (or Clinton for that matter), but it was pretty darn good. Unlike Gore or Kerry, he doesn't come off like he has too much starch in his shirt (or shorts).

Snappy comeback there STEAM you forgot to say "Oh Yea so there" Your a regular Al Jaffe.

You mean Betty Ford??
Actually, Gerald doesn't look too lively in that photo, either...
Live Steam 06-15-2004, 06:59 AM Yeah that's who he means. He just doesn't know it.

She looks awful. WOuldn't have recognized her.
All four people in the pic have their eyes closed, and Hillary's hands are in the position Methodist ladies use when they're praying in chuch. I have no doubt Wild Bill is snoozing, because he snoozed through most of the ceremony, but Hillary's WAY too proper and image-conscious to ever do such a thing at such a time and place. The photo is taken during a prayer. Trust me.
Live Steam 06-15-2004, 07:25 AM Too bad you didn't watch live. She was not praying. These shots were taken during the Eulogy given by either Thatcher or Mulroney. The live camera picked them up a few times, but the commentator never made mention of it. Heck, she looks more asleep than Bubba. I am sure this will come up again, should she dare to run for anything other than dog catcher.

in prayer during eulogies, as a gesture of respect. Hell, everyone knows that.

http://www.brokennewz.com/storyimages/clintonsleeping.jpg Senator Hillary Clinton of New York said she was "grateful" for her chance to participate in the state funeral of former President Ronald Reagan as "it represented the first time since the conception of Chelsea that Bill and I have slept together." The televised funeral gave the Democratic senator a chance to re-establish closeness, if not intimacy, with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, she told reporters at her Washington office this morning. "It was great, nostalgic, a trip down memory lane" she continued. "Sleeping with Bill was always a lot of fun, as I recall. And hopefully, we'll have a similar opportunity in the future, either on the solemn occasion of someone else's death or at an inaugural ball." Bill and Hillary Clinton managed to get some much-needed shut eye at the National Cathedral, sleep they both needed in advance of a gruelling book tour and a tough campaign season. "Oh, and Reagan was a lovely man," Senator Clinton added.

Live Steam 06-15-2004, 08:12 AM You give me very little credit. Who is it, do you think, that fills others 'inboxes'? ;O)
No that was just a simple Google. Anyone can do it. Go ahead and give it a try.

Just so long as they think as you do. That everything on the internet is true. (Except the porn that is all staged.)

...and Brian Mulroney's eulogy was so boring I nearly fell asleep at the wheel. Face it, any Canadian politician has about as much charisma as a tree.
Live Steam 06-15-2004, 09:05 PM Awe man. You see? I actually thought his was very touching and personal. He spoke well and didn't even fumble any words :O) He spoke from the heart. Well I guess that could be considered boring by some :O)
