I want to purchase a set of rollers or a new trainer. I sold my old cyclops and I was dead set on the new Kurt Kinetic Roll & Rock trainer, but those E-Motion rollers look nice. I like the idea that it's almost like being outside.

Two Questions:

1. Rock & Roll or E-Motion?
2. Can I get as good a workout on the E-Motion?

I think you'll get as good of a workout on the trainer as on the rollers. I've used both in the past (not these products specifically, but rollers and or trainers), and I'm back on a trainer these days. You can always work on balance, and or smooth spin on the rollers, but on a trainer, it's a no brainer. You don't have to think about it too much, just set it up and ride. Either one is going to give you a good workout, although most rollers (don't know if this is the case with these ones) won't have variable resistance that most trainers will. All and all, it comes down to whichever you want to spend your dollars on.

What am I missing on these watts? I wouldn't be able to get below about 220W in my lowest gear (39/23 @ 100rpm). I do my 20 min SST intervals at 230W. - TF

What you are missing is that that's "full resistance." Pretty sure you can turn it down.

No, that's the easiest. "Mag Off" At "Mag Full" it would be 408W in the easiest gear!

I just got a set of the emotion rollers for Christmas - they are absolutlely awesome! They feel like you are outside, which I love, and you can get a great workout on them, doing either long endurance rides or interval training (including out of the saddle sprinting!!!). I had not ridden rollers before getting them, only traditional fixed mag/fluid trainers. The difference is amazing and although they are expensive I would recommend the emotion rollers.

Go for the E-motion if you've narrowed it to those. I've had the TruTrainer for a week now and I actually look forward to using it except the weather isn't cooperating. The roads are still snow free. I've road the TruTrainer a couple times and the gear selection is the same as you would use on a flat road. I have yet to hit the 53-13 and only used the 14 briefly until my legs gave up. Standing up is no problem but I have yet to do an all out sprint like on the E-motion site videos. I looked at the E-motion on their site and they looked good but I'd have to use them to see how durable they are with the moving parts. With the TruTrainer and E-motion you can go all out like on a trainer while improving your form. Get rollers! The learning curve is quick unless you're a complete klutz.
