I need suggestions on training rides and training groups in the South Florida Miami Area.
I came from riding three years in Italy so mountains and traffic will make a big difference. I consider my self that i could be a good help for any local club because I want to get involve in the cycling community here.
I just registered with the USCF for 07. I know they will start me as cat 5 because I just spended the last 5 years overseas so I need to find out how can I get an upgrade. I used to ride cat 3 in Maryland in 01 and I have inproved since. Any suggestion or comments are welcome.

Welome!

Check out the South East Board here on RBR whcih will have plenty of info:

Most people ride/train on Key Biscayne. Gropus head out form South Miami and Coconut Grove on training rides every Saturday and Sunday.
The big pack is close to 60 riders most of the time. There a few trainign groups that you can always jump into if they pass you buy.

Check out Bike Tech or Mack Cycles locally for more info. I am sure someone esle will chime in. You may wnat to the the Snow Bird Century coming up in February. It's a good change to meet a lot of riders. The rides gets 150-200 riders.

Welcome again and enjoy Miami....

The ride that dirty boy is referring to starts at Don Pan Bakery by Sunset Place, on sundays, at 7:30, the same ride starts at 7:30 on saturdays from Pinecrest elementary school.

I highly reccomend the Everglades Bicycle Club. Please see their website for their scheduled rides. http://www.everglades-bicycleclub.org/

Where are you going to live? North, Southwest???

PS--You know we have no hills here right?

You will have to put your bike in a car to get to most of the starting points for the Everglades Club rides. However, Miami City Hall, one starting point, is within riding distance of your location.
